Typographics Poster
For this project, my primary goal was to develop an experimental, type-based visual identity that would not only resonate with Typographics' existing audience in North America but also appeal to a broader, more diverse international audience. Given the festival's expansion plans, it was essential to create a visual identity that could communicate across cultural and linguistic boundaries, reflecting the festival's commitment to inclusivity and global design sensibilities.
Executive Summary
Type System
Logo Design
The project involved integrating a non-Latin script into the branding, ensuring cultural sensitivity and aesthetic cohesion across diverse regions. Through research and collaboration, a versatile type system was developed that aligns with the festival's brand values and supports its global expansion, appealing to both emerging and traditional designers. This project emphasized the importance of culturally informed design in a global context.
I developed a type-driven design system for Typographics 2024, selecting both Latin and non-Latin fonts for the festival's satellite regions. Working within a black-and-white palette and without any imagery, I focused on creating a cohesive and scalable identity. This project deepened my understanding of pairing Latin and non-Latin scripts, and honed my skills in developing consistent design systems for global applications.
Poster Draft
The logo design process for Typographics 2024 focused on creating a biscriptual typographic logo that reflects the cultural and aesthetic dynamics of the festival's new pilot region. I began by conducting both primary and secondary research to understand the region's design standards, customs, and multilingual requirements. By analyzing the visual landscape and cultural context, I developed a logo that effectively expresses the Typographics brand in a way that resonates with the local audience.
Working with the selected Latin and non-Latin fonts, I focused on creating a poster that maintains consistency with the festival's branding while effectively communicating the event's details. Through iterative drafts, I explored different layouts, font sizes, and spacing to achieve a harmonious design that resonates with both local and international audiences, while adhering to the festival's minimalist aesthetic.

Poster Final
In concluding my final designs for Typographics 2024, I carefully considered the interplay of color, shapes, and layout to create a cohesive and impactful visual identity. The shapes were chosen to complement the typefaces, providing structure and visual interest without overwhelming the text. The layout was meticulously arranged to balance the Latin and non-Latin scripts, ensuring both readability and aesthetic harmony.
